Manousakis Joins Richards Bay

In a bold move, Richards Bay have roped in Vasili Manousakis as they embark on their maiden season in the DStv Premiership.

Manousakis, or Coach B,  served as Benni McCarthy’s assistant at both Cape Town City and AmaZulu, but after McCarthy’s departure from Usuthu, he too has now left the Durban club.

With Pitso Dladla & his assistants Ronnie Gabriel and Sibusiso Msomi not having experience in the top flight, Jomo Biyela has acted swiftly in recruiting the person he feels is ideal for the club, and to guide the technical team.

Manousakis is highly-respected at the teams he has worked at, and apart from being knowledgeable, he is incredibly popular with players. He is also the father of Mateo, the superfan.

While Manousakis has never served as a head coach, it seems Biyela has done his homework and gone after someone he feels will bring the needed DStv Premiership experience, but also with the philosophy and ambition that matches the club.

Manousakis has just returned from Scotland where he completed his UEFA A License and is expected to serve in a Technical Adviser role at the newly-promoted side.

You can read an interview with Manousakis in the latest edition of iDiski Times – out now! Click below to read the FREE digital version of the iDiski Times newspaper, with interviews with Noko Matlou, Amogelang Motau, Manousakis, and Jackson Mabokgwane chatting.
