Kaizer Chiefs legend Marks Maponyane has urged his former side and its fans to be patient and hang in there.
Amakhosi have not won a single trophy in the last five seasons, something unprecedented in the history of the Glamour Boys. The club has also had a poor start to the current season as they were sent crashing out of the MTN8 by their fierce rivals Orlando Pirates this past weekend. In the league, the club occupies 11th position, having accumulated four points in three matches.
Maponyane, who was a fan favourite during his illustrious time at Naturena, says the club and fans must understand that they cannot sign players at the moment and therefore should manage their expectations.
“All I can say is that they have to accept the fact that there is nothing they can do now; we all know that they cant sign players,” he told iDiski Times.
Mafa went on to say; “The only thing is just for them to hang in there and wait until the time is right. For now, they just have to expect better performances from the players that they have. If the players can perform like they did against Chippa United, then they can have a decent season.”
Chiefs’ next fixture will be away to Golden Arrows on the 21st of November in the DStv Premiership.
