Mayo Looking Forward To Tinkler Leadership

New Cape Town City signing Khanyisa Mayo is excited about his move, and is looking forward to step up in top flight South African football.

The former Richards Bay player who was last season’s Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the tournament, was announced by the club on Monday.

Mayo says it’s an exciting time for him as a player, and he hopes to win trophies at the Mother City outfit.

“I think it’s a wonderful move for me after having a great season in the GladAfrica Championship,” Mayo said.

“And I think it will build me as a player, getting to move a step further than playing in the GladAfrica Championship and going to the PSL.

“Joining Cape Town City, it is a wonderful club and has achieved a lot of things in the great years. And it’s a privilege and honour to join the club. And I’m looking forward to achieving trebles with the club, you know, as much as it’s a club that’s competing in the PSL so it’s nice to achieve trebles with the club, you know.

Mayo is also looking forward to working with Eric Tinkler again, having worked briefly with him during his time at SuperSport United.

“And my thought of working with Coach Tinkler, I’ve worked with Coach Tinkler back in the day at SuperSport,” Mayo continued.

“It was an honour getting coached by coach Tinkler , but it was not much time that I got the chance where I can work with him.

“But now we’re working with Coach Tinkler, as much as he believes in young players and young players that have ambitions and had the work ethic, so you know, playing under Coach Tinkler is going to be an honour and a privilege.”
