Bizana Pondo Chiefs have announced the signings of former Maritzburg United midfielder Deolin Mekoa, and former Cape Town City winger Shaquille Abrahams.
Mekoa, a former national under-23 star, lost favour at the Team of Choice, and spent last season on loan at Ajax Cape Town. He has been a free agent since then.
Abrahams was one of the first signings at City when John Comitis founded the club, but struggled to get regular game time and spent a lot of his time at the club out on loan.
Chiefs recently appointed Clinton Larsen as Head Coach, as they try to move out of bottom spot in the second tier.
The Eastern Cape club, who have been playing out of Durban, were only promoted from the ABC Motsepe Leagues this season.
“We are happy to welcome both players Shaquille Abrahams and Deolin Mekoa. They arrived at the time where we are facing difficulties in the club. We are a confident team that they will fit in seamlessly into our team and will help win the remaining matches of this season,” Chiefs Chairman Nkosinathi Mqokiyana said in a statement.
