Mngqithi Talks About Sundowns Fallout

Manqoba Mngqithi has spoken about the alleged fallout between the Mamelodi Sundowns coaches for a first time, saying people must stop wasting their time with this non-issue.

Downs beat Orlando Pirates 2-0 in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday to cement their spot at the top of the log.

After the match, Mngqithi was understandably full of praise for his side’s performance.

However, he was also asked about the recent fallout between the Sundowns technical team, which Rulani Mokwena had confirmed did happen but always insisted the technical team and the club had long moved on from it.

“I think you’re going to waste too much time in your lives, looking at the negatives and not focusing on what the team is doing,” he said during his post-match press conference

“South Africans, let’s try and understand that in every family there will always be disagreements, and there’ll always be individual differences.

“But the truth of the matter that does not mean we are fighting and fighting is something else.

“Our job is to make Sundowns to win matches and if you keep bringing this issue back you are not helping other teams because they will keep focusing on whether there is stability within the team or not and we will keep getting points.

“Help the teams to focus more on the positives of what Sundowns is doing at this stage because I think that should be the priority at this stage, because honestly speaking I think the boys have done very well.”

Downs next game is the MTN8 semi-final second leg against Golden Arrows on Tuesday.
