Mokeke – It’s Something We Need To Fix

Thato Mokeke says that Cape Town City need to give their best against Swallows on Saturday if they want to stay with the leading pack in the DStv Premiership.

City lost both of their last two games, away to Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, and are currently 7th on the table.

Unbeaten Swallows, who are third, are six points ahead of City.

While Mokeke has been in good personal form, he says he is not happy, as the team have not been getting the results.

No, actually I’m not happy because I think we lost two valuable games which we were supposed to at least pick up maybe three points from those games,” Mokeke says.

“Now we are facing a team that’s unbeaten in the league, a mountain to climb, but since we’re playing at home we have an advantage. We really need the points just to stay with the pack and we are gonna give it our best.”

Mokeke says they are concerned by the number of goals they’ve conceded, but says it’s the whole team, not just the defence that is responsible.

“It’s not only the defence, it’s the team as a whole, whereby whenever we out of position the team can just go through us easily, so that’s something that we need to work on as a team.”

“Because we’ve been scoring a lot of goals but now we just need to try and protect our defenders as midfielders also attacking players, when we lose the ball we have to come back in shape and just try and help the defence as much as possible so that we don’t concede silly goals.

“I think now we are the highest conceding team in the PSL so for us that’s that’s worrying even though we scoring a lot, but it’s worrying, so it’s something that we need to fix. It’s not easy, but we are gonna try our level best to fix it.”
