Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila head coach Lucky Nelukau says they will show no respect when they meet Golden Arrows in their Nedbank Cup last 32 clash.
Last season Tshakhuma were crowned 2021 Nedbank Cup champions after claiming a 1-0 win over Chippa United in the final at Free State Stadium.
However, technically the defending champions are the DStv Premiership side, Marumo Gallants after they bought the TTM status at the start of 2021, though only renamed the team ahead of the new season — but Nelukau says he encourages his players to go out to play as the defending champions.
“With Arrows we are expecting a great team, we know they are a DStv Premiership team,” Nelukau said on MLFM SABC Radio.
“But we are not going to give them a respect because it will be an 11 v 11, so there is no way we can show respect.
“Most of my players are the PSL materials, so we are not going to respect them, I have got young squad, and I’m aware we play the same style with Arrows.
“I have prepared, and I have been studying how Arrows play and that’s why I’m saying it’s 11 v 11, all are soccer players and I know my players believe in themselves.
“They all aware that TTM are the defending champions of the cup, even though it’s Marumo Gallants, but it’s TTM, it’s still the name TTM, and they must protect it.”
The GladAfrica Championship side will host Abafana Bes’thende at Thohoyandou Stadium later today at 18:00.
