ODG Foresees Big Future For Mahlangu
TS Galaxy head coach Owen Da Gama has spoken with pride about Macbeth Mahlangu, who looks set to be part of South Africa’s Olympic team heading to Tokyo.
Da Gama is full of praise for the young defender, and says he has done very well for the club.
Da Gama, who led the national U23 team to the Rio Olympics says he foresees a big future for the 19-year-old, who he feels could go play overseas.
Mahlangu was not part of the original squad named by David Notoane, but looks to have come in as a replacement.
“Ja, look, I’m very proud of this, of Macbeth Mahlangu,” Da Gama told the club’s media department.
“I’m very, very proud of him. I’m proud of the chairman who went and saw him at a tournament, identified him, brought him straight to the PSL.
“And he’s done fantastically well. His attitude at training, his attitude in matches, he is very calm boy, very calm. And he’s not very noisy, you know, he’s very quiet. But when he gets onto that field, you see the quality, he’s got speed he’s good in the air. In those one on one duels, he wins 99% of them. And he can pass with both left and right, he can pass. So what more do you want from a player?
“So I foresee a big future for this boy, I foresee him going very, very far. even going to play overseas one day. As long as he just keeps his head level, he works hard, and he does the same things that he was doing this year, you know, work hard. And I’m really proud of him.”
