Pitso Blamed For Super Cup Defeat
Pitso Mosimane has been criticised for Al Ahly’s defeat in the Egyptian Super Cup, with a former Al Ahly forward saying the South African “managed the match poorly”.
The Red Devils were beaten by Tala’ea El-Gaish on penalties after both side’s failed to score.
With Al Ahly entering the game as favourites, Mosimane has received a wave of criticism. One of the more vocal critics was Osama Hosny, who himself won over 20 trophies with the club, including six Egyptian Super Cups.
Hosny feels Mosimane is to blame for not lifting the Super Cup this time around because he didn’t push his players enough.
“Mosimane managed the match poorly,” Hosny told Al Ahly TV as cited by Kingfut.
“From the beginning, we did not see Mosimane pushing the players, so he must bear the result due to playing the way he used to do before, which is a mistake.”
‘Jingles’, meanwhile, missed out on lifting his fifth trophy with the Egyptian giants after securing two CAF Champions League titles, one CAF Super Cup and the Egyptian Cup during his first 11 months at the club.
In addition, he also guided Al Ahly to a third place at the FIFA Club World Cup and received a medal for the Egyptian Premier League. But the latter title had already been secured by his predecessor Rene Weiler.
