Mamelodi Sundowns co-head coach Rulani Mokwena says the Sundowns Ladies team have successfully put healthy pressure on the men’s team.
Masandawana top the DStv Premiership table after playing nine games without a loss, and are yet to concede a goal this season.
Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are flying South Africa’s flag proudly, as they on Monday they secured a spot in the final of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s League.
The ladies team has dominated women’s football in South Africa in recent times, and are set to win their second Hollywoodbets Super League.
“Well, there’s a lot of pressure because our women’s team, under the leadership of coach Jerry (Tshabalala) have gone four years without a defeat,” Mokwena told Nyiko Sithole last week on MLFM Sports Show.
“Can you imagine four years without a defeat? But it’s because of a lot of hard work, commitment, and that create a lot of consistency. So, the benchmark is already been set by our women side.
“Having said that, the reality is, we are going to lose sometimes. Football is a game where it’s either you win, lose or draw. So, when it is your moments to win, you’ve got to continue to do the best that you can to maintain the consistency.
“But at the same time, you know what they say, they say the best time to prepare for rain is when it’s hot and a lot of sunshine, so we know that it’s not going to be a perfect season.
“It’s not going to be a season where we will win everything, there will be a difficult moment and while we are going to a good moment, that’s the time to prepare ourselves for the typical moments that we may encounter during the season.”
