Rulani: TS Galaxy More Important Than Pitso
Mamelodi Sundowns Co Head Coach Rulani Mokwena has insisted his side are only focussing on TS Galaxy and not next week’s reunion with Pitso Mosimane.
The 35-year-old spoke to iDiski Times writer David Kappel about many topics, including facing Mosimane in the CAF Champions League.
However, when asked which side will have the advantage in next week’s quarter-final first leg in Egypt, Mokwena insisted that Masandawana are only focussing on their next task in the DStv Premiership until Sunday.
“I wish football was that simple and if it was that simple then we knew everything about the game.” he responded.
“We would be the top coaches in the world, you know, but the game is extremely unpredictable and it demands so much in terms of preparation and focus that you’re going to take it one game at a time and we’re not even thinking about that [facing Pitso].
“Right now we are thinking about TS Galaxy at this moment in time because my goodness the amount of preparation that goes behind the scenes with analysis and training and recovery. You can’t plan three or four games ahead, you’ve got to stay in the moment.
“And that’s where we are, we are in the moment and we are focused on the next game because the next one is always the most important.”
Masandawana currently sit four points ahead of AmaZulu on the Premiership log and could extend this lead to seven points, if they win their game against TS Galaxy on Sunday.
Watch out for the full exclusive interview where Mokwena opens up his relationship with ‘Jingles’, why he is very fond of Jose Mourinho despite his recent troubles, his favourite coaches and his dreams of managing overseas – all in the upcoming edition of iDiski Times, which will be in the shops on Tuesday, 17 May.
