SAFA Announce Update On Olympics Squad
SAFA have announced an important update on the South African U23 Olympics squad.
The team was scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia for a pre-tournament camp but it had to be cancelled, as iDiski Times reported.
Instead, 20 players went into a local camp at the SAFA National Technical Centre in Fun Valley on 28 June before traveling to Mpumalanga where the team is currently based.
All players who previously tested positive for Covid-19 have been cleared and the whole said is currently in a bio-bubble in Nelspruit, SAFA confirmed.
“We are excited to have our preparations going and to have a few of our players who were in isolation join the team,” said coach Notoane.
“We have a local friendly coming up and that will give us a good measure of the match conditioning and physical readiness
“So far we are getting everything on track. Slowly but surely.”
SAFA also confirmed that the official U23 Men’s Olympic Squad has been submitted to SASCOC for preview and will be announced on SABC Sport on Saturday, 3 July 2021 at 15:00.
