Chippa United Head Coach Lehlohonolo Seema says it will be suicidal to hope that MTN8 champions Orlando Pirates will be suffering from any ‘cup hangover’ when the two teams meet this week.
Seema, a former Pirates captain, was speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s DSTV Premiership fixture.
Seema dismissed any possibility of Pirates having any cup hangover, and says they need to be prepared for a tough game.
“That would be suicidal, that would be suicidal for us to say they still have a hangover from the cup,” Seema told the media over Zoom.
“I am sure immediately after they left Durban, it was water under bridge, as much as it has been long for them since they won the cup.”
“You know the quality that Pirates have got, on Wednesday you don’t even know who you expect to see on the field of play, it’s difficult to plan against them, such quality that they have.”
“We have to make sure that we do not take anything for granted, we don’t get complacent, we’ll have to prepare very well and expect a very difficult game from the MTN Champions.”
Seema, who joined Chippa from Bloemfontein Celtic and has a long history with both Pirates and Celtic, also sent his congratulations to the MTN8 winners, and commiserations to the runners-up.
“And congratulations to them, tough luck to Bloemfontein Celtic.”
“We are fully aware of the danger of Pirates, that they can pose on the day, because they quality.”
