When Percy Tau scored his goal against Ghana on Thursday, exactly four years to the day after scoring his first Bafana Bafana goal, he became the country’s seventh highest ever goalscorer.
Tau’s second half strike in the 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium, took his tally to 13, and he joined former star Sibusiso Zuma at that mark on the goalscoring charts.
His first goal for Bafana was scored on the 25th of March 2017 in a friendly against Guinea-Bissau. It was his third cap. Since then Tau has gone onto 29 matches, and his 13 goals gives him one of the best-strike rates in Bafana history. To put it into perspective, Zuma scored his 13 goals in 66 appearances.
