Tau & Mokoena Test Positive For COVID
Percy Tau and Teboho Mokoena are currently in quarantine after testing positive for COVID19.
The duo will miss Bafana Bafana’s friendly with Uganda on Thursday, 10 June, SAFA confirmed during a press conference on Monday.
Assistant coaches Cedomir Janevski and Helman Mkhalele will lead the side in their first game since Molefi Ntseki’s sacking, while Hugo Broos had to return to Belgium to get his second COVID19 vaccine.
“Everybody knows the quality of Percy Tau,” Janevski said, as quoted by The Citizen.
“He was a player at Bruges, my ex-team, he was in Anderlecht, he is an important player for the national team of South Africa. We hope for the next camp he will be ok.
“He has the skills, he is in England (now), he has a good mentality and can give his quality not just individually, around the players who will be with him in the next game of qualification (for the World Cup).”
Mokoena’s SuperSport United teammate Sipho Mbule will also miss the game because he has been in close contact with Mokoena.
The match against Uganda will take place at the Orlando Stadium on 10 June, kick off is at 18:00.
