Tinkler – Happy With The Start
Eric Tinkler was happy after his first game back in charge at Cape Town City, as they beat Black Leopards 3-1 at the Cape Town Stadium.
The result confirmed Lidoda Duvha’s relegation to the GladAfrica Championship.
Tinkler said his team dominated the game and were unlucky to find themselves trailing at half-time.
But he says their second half performance was much better, and he feels they could have even scored more than the three goals they did. City’s goals were scored by Fagrie Lakay and Abdul Ajagun, who scored a brace.
“I thought in the first half, we had a lot of possession, we managed to get into there half, or in the final third, on many occasions, but we just didn’t penetrate enough,” Tinkler said after the game.
“We created one or two half chances. But ja, struggled to to find a goal in that first half, and I don’t remember Marc (Anderson) having to make a save other than the set piece that they had, and they managed to score.
“So a little bit unfortunate to find ourselves one nil down at halftime, but second half, we made one or two changes in terms of our structure.
“And then also a couple of substitutions that also worked very, very good for us, and I think getting the three goals is well deserved overall, when I look at all the opportunities that we looked to create.
“So, possibly we could have gone on and got a fourth or even a fifth, so I think it was a deserved result and happy, happy with the start.”
