Tinkler – Mashego Has Worked Extremely Hard

Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler has praised the dedication and work ethic of Terrence Mashego, who was included in Hugo Broos’s final 23 man Bafana Bafana for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia.

It is a first call up for the former TS Galaxy left-back, who will hope to impress Broos during the camp.

Tinkler is confident Mashego will do well, and was full of praise for Mashego’s commitment, saying how the 25-year-old had even trained on his day off.

The City coach also says having Mashego (and Mduduzi Mdantsane who was included in the provisional squad) recognised at national level is good for the club.

“Ja, definitely, obviously as a club, we very happy to have our players making the senior national team,” Tinkler said on Monday.

“The fact that you know both (Mduduzi) Mdantsane and Terrence have been selected for that (provisional squad) is good for the club, and obviously also good for the players.

“And I think, Terrence has worked extremely hard to get where he’s got to, in fact, yesterday was a day off for everybody, barring Terrence.

“He decided he was coming in and done extra training on his own.

“Nobody told him to, but he ended up doing it by himself, so that just shows you how dedicated and how hard working a young man he is.”
