Truter – We Failed To Kill Things Off

Swallows FC Head Coach Brandon Truter was disappointed his team failed to see out a win against Chippa United, missing out a chance to go top of the DStv Premiership table.

Swallows and Chippa drew 1-1 on Wednesday, the result leaving Mamelodi Sundowns top, on goal difference.

Having taken an early lead through Ruzaigh Gamildien, Truter says they should have closed the game out, but instead they allowed Chippa to come back at them, and veteran Kurt Lentjies found the equalising goal.

“Disappointed man,” Truter said after the game.

“Very, very disappointed in the result and the fact that we conceded and didn’t score the extra goal that would’ve made things a bit more comfortable.”

“We scored an early one, and then I think we took our foot off the pedal, but it’s also the accumulation of fatigue and tiredness as well. But Chippa got back into the game, and they were also in the game with a 1-0 scoreline.”

“We failed to kill things off, and the chances, it’s taxing, I don’t blame the boys, we’ll take the point, we’ll remain undefeated.”
