Wednesday’s DStv Premiership Results

Swallows missed a chance to go top of the table after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Chippa United, as six DStv Premiership matches were played on Wednesday.

Orlando Pirates 0-0 Golden Arrows

It ended goalless at Orlando Stadium between Pirates and Arrows, who remain unbeaten.

It looked Thembinkosi Lorch would give Pirates the lead in the 36th minute, but his header hit the upright and bounced out as the first half remained goalless.

In the second half Arrows began to show why they’re fifth on the table, and created a few chances of their own.

But after 90 minutes neither team were able to find the winner.

Swallows FC 1-1 Chippa United

Swallows and Chippa played to a 1-1 draw at Dobsonville Stadium.

Ruzaigh Gamildien scored his 9th goal of the season, opening the scoring the 12th minute with a fine strike.

Chippa began to see more of the game in the second half and it paid off when Kurt Lentjies came off the bench to find the equaliser, blasting in in the 75th minute from the edge of the area.

SuperSport United 1-1 AmaZulu

SuperSport and AmaZulu had to be happy with a share of the spoils after it ended 1-1 in Tshwane.

Siphelele Mthembu opened the scoring for the visitors in the 33rd minute, when he got behind the defence and placed the ball past Ronwen Williams in the SuperSport goal.

Benni McCarthy’s team controlled proceedings in the first half, creating most of the chances. 

But SuperSport came back in the second half, and were awarded a penalty in the 76th minute after Mario Booysen was adjudged to have fouled Thamsanqa Gabuza. Bradley Grobler stepped up to score his 11th of the season.

Black Leopards 0-2 Cape Town City

Cape Town City got back to winning ways with a good 2-0 away win against Leopards

Surprise Ralani handed City the lead in the 31st minute, scoring in the top corner after an assist from Fagrie Lakay.

Ralani found his second with ten minutes to go, to secure the three points for City.

Stellenbosch 2-3 Baroka

Baroka picked up three points on the road, when they beat Stellenbosch 3-2 at the Danie Craven Stadium.

Evidence Makgopa handed Baroka the lead in the 41st minute, before doubling the lead just past the hour mark.

Gerald Phiri made it three for Baroka, before Stanley Dimgba and Ryan Moon (from the penalty spot) pulled two back for the home team.

Maritzburg United 0-3 TS Galaxy

TS Galaxy picked up their first win under Owen Da Gama, when they beat Maritzburg 3-0.

Wayde Lekay put Gama’s team up in the 33rd minute, as he made no mistake in beating Jethren Barr to open the scoring.

Lindokuhle Mbatha, who set up the first goal, made it two for Galaxy three minutes into the second half.

Felix Badenhorst added a third in the 85th minute to secure the win.
