Golden Arrows and Tshakhuma played to 1-1 in 90 minutes, and couldn’t add to the score in extra time at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday evening.

It was a first half that saw Arrows in control, and doing most of the attacking, but they weren’t able to take advantage in the first half despite a flurry of half chances, and at the break it remained goalless.

TTM started the second half much better, and began to cause a few problems for Arrows. And then in the 68th minute they grabbed the lead as debutant Tshepo Matete stuck to the basics to head in the goal.

Arrows came back to life immediately, and it wasn’t long before they were level, Siboniso Conco with a good volley after TTM were unable to clear their lines.

But neither team could find the winner in 90 minutes with TTM goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda making a number of good saves throughout the game, and extra time was needed.

However the winning goal continued to elude the teams, and with no winner in 120 minutes, the match was decided by the penalty shootout.
