Zwane On New Chiefs Role

Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has opened up about his new role as the Senior Academy Coach at the club, saying he is happy to serve the institution in any capacity.

Zwane was given the reigns as head coach of the first team in 2022/23 but was released from the position at the end of that campaign, with Amakhosi not being able to get any silverware.

It wasn’t clear what was Zwane’s role at the club last season but management has since announced that the 50 year old will be in the development ranks.

Zwane was part of the Chiefs legends who participated in the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Legacy Cup this past weekend and he said whatever position he has in the club he appreciates it and feels blessed.

“So for me to be given the opportunity to be on top and come back is still a big opportunity,” Zwane told media in KZN, as per Ayanda Nyuswa.

“Just to be part of Kaizer Chiefs it’s a huge responsibility, it doesn’t matter in which capacity. The fact is that when you are part of Kaizer Chiefs you are expected to perform at the highest level all the time and do your utmost best.

“So the passion is there. I’m a football person it’s in me. To me it doesn’t matter whether I’m in the first team or development, as long as I do what I love because a lot of people are working and doing work they don’t like.

“So for me I feel blessed by God and my ancestors and I appreciate it. That’s why I’m even encouraging people to know where they come from because it’s important. Before you can conquer the world you have to pray and do honour your ancestors so your things can go well.”
