Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City have named their starting line-ups for this afternoon’s MTN8 quarter-final.
Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch and Cape Town City have already secured their places in the semi-finals, and the winner of today’s game will complete the line-up.
Sundowns, last winners of this trophy three seasons ago, start as strong favourites in the first competitive game for Masandawana since the departure of Rulani Mokwena.
Only promoted back to the top flight in 2023/24, City will compete in the MTN8 for a third time.
Their last appearance was in 2019, when they narrowly missed out on reaching the final, losing on penalties to Highlands Park in the semi-finals. In 2017 they lost to Cape Town City in the last eight.
In their 20 previous meetings Sundowns have dominated the head-to-head, winning eleven, while Polokwane have won five times.
