Sekhukhune United coach Lehlohonolo Seema says he won’t overanalyse the costly howler by his goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner and he is confident the player will bounce back.
This comes after the keeper’s mistakes cost Babina Noko the second goal in the 2-0 Nedbank Cup Last 16 round defeat to AmaZulu at the Peter Mokaba stadium on Thursday.
The coach admitted that both goals came from his side’s mistakes with the obvious howler from Renaldo in the second half.
However, Seema says he is not going to overemphasise the mistake or crucify Renaldo as the keeper won’t turn into a bad player overnight.
“He doesn’t need any words of encouragement,” said Seema.
“As a player you know when something has happened. You know when you have done well, when you done some mistakes, you will know.
“Football is a game of mistakes, you just carry on and go. We have won games here, we have played draws here with him on the goals doing well for the team.
“It’s just that on the day he made a mistake and then it was costly. So we don’t even have to rub it [in]. He knows himself, it’s just to go back and work as a team. We lose as a team we win as a team.
“I’m not even going to single him out and say I need to encourage him, no, he knows himself and he will bounce back, that’s for sure with our support.”
