Former SuperSport United midfielder Jesse Donn has announced his retirmement from the beautiful game despite only being 25, saying it’s a decision based on faith. Donn, 25, joined SuperSport from Ubuntu Football Academy in 2019 and emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the league. He was on the fringes of the national team squad under Hugo Broos but fell out of favour upon the return of Gavin Hunt as head coach, who preferred a midfield duo of Grant Margeman and Siphesihle Ndlovu. Bafana Bafana assistant coach Helman Mkhalele has announced a 22-man squad for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) Qualifiers against Egypt with Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng a surprise inclusion. South Africa takes on the Pharaohs on Friday, 28 February, with the return fixture set for Sunday, 9 March.
