South Africa U20 head coach Raymond Mdaka has addressed the future of Ayanda Sishuba who was part of the provisional squad.
The 19-year-old RC Lens playmaker has featured for Belgium at U17 and U18 level and is the son of former South African footballer Asanda Sishuba.
It appears he may be heading back to the country of his birth in the current transfer window with reports suggesting Royal Union, Gent and Anderlecht are in talks over his services.
However, question marks were raised when Fletcher Lowe was the only player of nine overseas-based talents present at the SAFA Technical Centre this week.
“With Sishuba, the office had contact with me, contact with the parents, these are the kind of players we want to have, we know them, all the players we wanted to come for this camp, we contacted them, discussed and know the situation and challenges,” Mdaka said when asked by iDiski Times about Sishuba’s stance on South Africa.
“We had some challenges of identification [documents] in terms of passports, all these things, it’s something we’re trying to work on.”
“Sometimes as a coach, you’re in between, you talk to the manager and the manager talks to the players, some agents talk to the players and so on – so where we stand, he looks like someone they’re interacting with parents – I might not be able [to speak for him] for now.”
Amajita will face off in two friendly games against Lesotho U20 over the next week.
