Banyana Banyana star Jermaine Seoposenwe won the double in Mexico after beating Tembi Kgatlana’s Tigres UANL in dramatic fashion on Tuesday morning.
Seoposenwe and her side Rayadas Monterrey had already won the 2024 Clausura trophy earlier in the season and celebrated a magical comeback to also lift the 2024 Apertura Tournament championship.
The final was played over two legs, with Tigres winning the first leg 1-0 at home. The visitors went 2-0 up in the second leg at Monterrey and were holding a comfortable three-goal lead at half-time.
However, the home side scored two goals in quick succession in the 52nd and 54th to set up a grand final.
In the 83rd minute, Tigres missed a penalty, which would’ve sealed the trophy, while Rayadas scored a 97th minute penalty to force the tie to penalties.
In the shoutout, Seoposenwe’s teammates kept their cool and beat Kgatlana’s team 4-3 to clinch their first ever league title.
