Banyana Banyana stars Sinoxolo Cesane and Hildah Magaia played a pivotal role in ending their new club Mazatlan FC Femenil’s 31-league match winless run in a 2-1 victory.
Mazatlan last won a league match back in February 2022 when they defeated Tijuana by 1-0 away from home. Since then, they collected 28 losses and just three draws.
Two weeks ago, the Mexican side announced the signing of two Banyana stars in Magaia and Cesane and both made their debut in a 4-1 loss against Tijuana five days ago.
The two African stars had a duty to change fortunes for the Liga MX side and it didn’t take long to live up to expectations, as Cesane showed her qualities by netting a brace and Magaia assisted on both goals.
This is their first win in almost year and Mazatlan moved to 12th place on the league table. They will next face Atlas on Sunday, with hope of making it back-to-back wins.
