Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster is in line to make his Premier League debut against champions Manchester City in the 2023/24 season.
The Premier League announced the opening fixtures for the new campaign and Burnley, who won the EFL Championship will host the treble winners at Turf Moor on Friday, 11 August 2023.
It marks an incredible change in fortunes for Foster, who has one point saw his career stagnated after indifferent stints at AS Monaco, a loan at Cercle Brugge and then a season to forget in Portugal with Vitória de Guimarães.
However, a loan stint to the second-tier of Belgium at Westerlo, which later became permanent after he fired them to promotion, eventually saw Vincent Kompany calling, with the Clarets forking out a fee that could reach as high as €11-million.
It ranks him as the record South African transfer as he now follows in the footsteps of Benni McCarthy, the late Philemon Masinga and Shaun Bartlett as Bafana strikers to have plied their trade in the English top-flight.
After Man City, Burnley will face fellow promoted side Luton Town on match day two, Aston Villa at home on match day three, Tottenham Hotspur on match day four, then Nottingham Forrest and Manchester United.
