Amiens head coach Philippe Hinschberger has suggested Bongani Zungu has some work to do before he returns to the starting line-up.
The 29-year-old midfielder left the French coach incensed a few weeks back after receiving a red card for dissent which led to the 2-1 defeat against Pau.
After serving his suspension he was not involved in the squad that drew 1-1 with Dijon and left them 13th in the French second-tier and Hinschberger has since explained his stance on the South African.
“It’s a combination of factors that motivated my decision,” he told Le11 Amienois. “He was expelled a fortnight ago and he left for a week to be [with] his partner who gave birth.
“He came back to this start to the week but as we were over a period of three matches, we were still training with two groups.
“Then, I had also said that I would not roll out the red carpet. When you say things, you have to put them in place. I don’t think he’s necessarily ready to get into the game anyway.”
Zungu has featured 11 times in a stop-start campaign with the Ligue 2 club and is widely expected to depart when his contract expires in July.
