Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana was named the best player of the first round in the Romanian Betano Cup.
Ngezana, 26, cemented his place in the starting XI of his new club FCSB after overcoming some minor struggles to adjust in Romania.
He has now received his first individual honour in Europe after being named the best player of the first round in the cup, where he had scored his first goal for FCSB in a 2-0 win over Bihor.
“It’s my first [individual] trophy in Romania, it feels exciting because of the recognition and the support from the fans,” he told journalists.
“Also thanks to my teammates, because without them I don’t think I would’ve received this trophy. Also thanks to the technical team for helping me to improve.”
Ngezana also added that he’d love to win silverware with his new club, who are currently leading the Superliga and are still in the cup.
“I want to give 110% in every game that I play,” he continued.
“The Romanian Cup is important, not only for me but also for the team and also for the fans, so we’ll try by all means to win it.
“To win something with the team, that’s the most important thing for me.”
Overall, Ngezana has made nine appearances since joining FCSB from Chiefs in July.
