SA Duo Shine In MLS, Mayambela Scores Again

South African duo Tsiki Ntsabeleng and Bongokuhle Hlongwane produced standout displays in the MLS this weekend while Mihlali Mayambela got himself on the scoresheet in Portugal.

Bafana Bafana forward Hlongwane was signed by Minnesota United as a future prospect and has gradually been introduced to the first team since his arrival from Maritzburg United.

And in their most recent clash against Chicago Fire, he registered his first two assists in a 30-minute cameo as they won 3-0. Meanwhile, Ntsabeleng earned a Man of the Match award despite being only ten minutes on the field of play.

The former Kaizer Chiefs youngster scored his first goal for FC Dallas to spark a 2-1 comeback win which earned major plaudits in American media.

Mayambela, 25, continued his rich vein of form with Farense as he scored his fourth in seven league games but was unfortunately on the losing side in the 3-2 defeat against Nacional.

Jaisen Clifford was another who managed to get himself on the scoring sheet as his move to Armenia proves to be fruitful, his effort secured a point for FC Van against Ararat.

Keanin Ayer who turned 22 last week also secured his first goal contribution with an assist in a 5-0 win for Sandefjord against Strømsgodset in the Norweigian top-flight.

The likes of Tashreeq Matthews (Varbergs) and Sphephelo Sithole (Belenenses) also impressed this weekend, with the former earning 90 minutes in the Allsvenskan and Sithole playing 85 minutes in the Portugese top-flight.
