South African striker Darren Smith has started the 2024 season in Finland in fine form and helped FC Inter Turku secure the LiigaCup.
Smith, 28, has hit five goals in his first six games this season for the club as they secured the LiigaCup, which kicks off the domestic league season.
It promises to be a major season for the former Ajax Cape Town talent, who scored nine goals with two assists in 39 games last season after his return to Europe.
Smith had a stint in the Botola Pro with ASFAR, where he became the first South African to feature in the Moroccan top-flight.
However, having arrived mid-way through the season after being inactive as the Finnish league had ended months prior, he failed to establish himself and eventually returned to the country where enjoyed prolific spells with Ekenäs IF and FC Honka between 2020 and 2022.
