Solomons Lands Move In Sweden

Former Ajax defender Dean Solomons has secured a new move in Sweden with Piteå IF ahead of the 2023 Ettan Fotboll season.

Solomons, 23, has returned to Scandanavia where he had a stint with top-flight side Varberg BoIs and will be aiming to get his career back on track.

The Ikamva product, who earned a move to Amsterdam as a teenager was touted for a major future in the game but he’s not giving up just yet.

“I’m happy, excited, especially of a team like Piteå, I have a former teammate here from Varberg and he’s only told me good things about the club,” he told iDiski Times.

“I’m just excited and happy because it was a bit frustrating being away from professional football for quite some time. But I take it as a positive.

“When I was in South Africa, I trained with different PSL teams and for me it just was positive to grow my game in different ways. I was with Stellenbosch, Cape Town City, and Maritzburg United and I kept my positivity.

“At Stellenbosch I found it challenging with the heat, in Maritzburg there were speedy players, City it was very demanding physically. But I learned a lot this year just training with them.

“But I’ve got my breakthrough which I give all the Glory to God to get through a very frustrating time in my career, so I’m just looking forward to being back overseas and continuing playing football.”

Solomons has signed a one-year deal with an option to extend with the Swedish club.
