Bafana Bafana striker Lars Veldwijk has been named in the K-League Team of the Season at the 2021 awards ceremony.
Veldwijk enjoyed an incredible debut season in the South Korean top-flight after helping Suwon FC win promotion last season.
The towering striker challenged for the Golden Boot award for most of the campaign but fell short by four goals to Joo Min-kyu of Jeju United who netted 22 for the season.
His exploits helped his side finish fifth in the league after the play-off round while his overall contribution stands at 18 goals and six assists in 37 league games – which ranks as the most goal contributions by a single player.
Capped seven times by the South Africa national team, Veldwijk last represented the nation in the quarter-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, he only started one fixture for Bafana in a friendly against Mozamqbiue under then-interim coach Owen da Gama five years ago.
