Agent Gives Update On Zwane Future At Chiefs

Amid reports linking Samkelo Zwane with a potential Kaizer Chiefs exit or loan, the player’s agent Mike Makaab has confirmed they will wait for the new Amakhosi coach to assess the midfielder before deciding on his future.

Zwane, 22, made his Chiefs debut in October 2022 and has since made 23 appearances for the club.

While Zwane made 15 appearances under former Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane, who handed him his debut, he has struggled for game-time under Molefi Ntseki and Cavin Johnson this past season, playing just 105 minutes across eight substitute appearances.

However, Makaab insisted they will wait for the club’s announcement of their new head coach, with iDiski Times understanding Nasreddine Nabi has agreed to lead Amakhosi, before making a decision on his future.

“I think that Samkelo will stay at Chiefs,” he said on Gagasi FM.

“I think there will be an opportunity for the new coach to look at all of the players that start the pre-season.

“If we believe that Samkelo is given an opportunity to fight for a place in the team, then why move? He’s already made his debut at a relatively young age for Kaizer Chiefs.

“It’s a club that he’s passionate about, it’s a club that he loves. So why move?

“I think that the most important thing is, if there is any doubt that he’ll get the right amount of game-time, it will be important for him to go out, even if it’s on loan and find a club that is giving him that game-time.

“But it’s far too early, far too premature to be even thinking about that. The same goes for Mduduzi Tshabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi, Doney Jansen and Wandile Duba.

“With the new technical staff in place – everyone is talking about Nabi, but we don’t know. Chiefs will be the only ones to say Nabi and his technical team have signed on the dotted line.

“Then we’ll all get excited because I think it’ll be a step in the right direction for Kaizer Chiefs. Then hopefully the pre-season will tell us a lot about how the new coach sees all of the players, not just our players.”

Chiefs are expected to make an announcement on Nabi after the Throne Cup semi-final on 23 June.
