Orlando Pirates have announced they have reached an agreement with Maritzburg United over attacking midfielder Karim Kimvuidi.
The 21-year-old got relegated with the Team of Choice at the end of the 2023/24 season and Farook Kadodia had confirmed to iDiski Times he was not short of offers from “both locally and internationally”.
There were rumours that Kimvuidi could be the next player off to the Major League Soccer but Pirates announced his signing on Wednesday.
“Orlando Pirates is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with Maritzburg United for the services of Karim Kimvuidi,” the club stated.
Despite Maritzburg United’s relegation, Kimvuidi made a big impression in his debut season in South Africa, featuring in all but one league game for the Team of Choice.
The DRC international had previously played for Daring Club Motema Pembe in his home nation.
At Pirates he becomes the latest signing following Sephelo Baloni (Cape Town All Stars), Katlego Otladisa (Marumo Gallants), Melusi Buthelezi (TS Galaxy), Patrick Maswanganyi (SuperSport United) and Lesedi Kapinga (Mamelodi Sundowns).
Meanwhile, Dondol Stars also confirmed that goalkeeper Sphamandla Gumede joined the Buccaneers, with iDiski Times understanding he has since been loaned out to Orbit College.
