Chippa Closing In On New GK

Eastern Cape-based side Chippa United is closing on signing Pretoria Callies goalkeeper Tshepo Mohui.

Mohui, 24, produced one of his best performances in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 against Stellenbosch FC. He won the Man of the Match award after keeping the Cape Winelands side at bay, sending the game to penalties.

The former JDR Stars and Bloemfontein Celtic goalkeeper helped The Romans to survive relegation, as they finished three points above drop zone.

Information received by this publication states that Mohui is currently in the Eastern Cape and has started training with Chippa United, with a deal set to be offered.

After Chilli Boys parted ways with Darren Johnson and Lloyd Kazapua, the 24-year-old is seen as a perfect addition to their goalkeeping department.

Stanley Nwabali, who was the first choice, has been heavily linked with a move away from United.

Lukhanyo July, who was the fourth-choice last season, has also returned to training with the Chilli Boys ahead of the new season.
