Downs Starlet Returns After Loan Stint Ends

Malebogo Modise, who was on a season-long loan at Chippa United will return to his mother club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Modise, 25, a youth product of Masandawana’s reserve side, joined the Chilli Boys at the beginning of the last campaign to get more playing minutes under his belt, having spent another loan stint at All Stars FC the season before.

The South African junior international made his debut for Chippa in a 1-1 draw against AmaZulu in October, racking up close to 80 minutes. Since then, he’s made 16 appearances in all competitions.

The Mafikeng-born left-back won three Man-of-the-Match awards in the colours of United – two in the DStv Premiership and one in the Nedbank Cup.

With the player’s contract set to expire at the end of this month, June 30, Modise will return to Sundowns, though United are thought to be keen on retaining him for another season, having put in a great shift during his brief spell at the Gqeberha-based outfit.

With Downs having the likes of international trio – Terrence Mashego, Aubrey Modiba, and Abdelmounain Boutouil in that position, the ever-hard-working left-back could well be set for an extended stay at Chippa.
