Ertugral On CT City’s Deadline Day Transfer Activity

Cape Town City interim coach Muhsin Ertugral maintains that their focus is next season and that there will no new additions on transfer deadline day.

The local transfer window slams shut at midnight with the Citizens only signing national U20 captain Patrick Autata with two departures in academy player Xhosa Manyana’s move to Cincinnati in the MLS and Keanu Cupido set to join league champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Speaking after City’s exit from the Nedbank Cup, Ertugral said the side is already looking ahead of the next campaign while they are expecting a couple of returns from injury to rejuvenate them for the remainder of this current campaign.

“No not for us,” the Turkish mentor responded when asked if there will be any movements on Tuesday.

“I’m not a guy who runs out and say we need this we need that. We need to also build for next season.

“My job is next season also with Sporting Director. I can see now hands on what quality do we have and where we need to better. There are a lot of youngsters also knocking on the door.

“We have also had some injuries so there are a couple of players who will come back very soon, we’ll have a little bit more fire power.

“Also, you see that our top striker who scored last time two goals [Gabriel] Amato was not there which left us to put those youngsters in. But it is not an excuse, but I think we could do better in the entries.”
