Gabuza Won’t Play For Galaxy Again

Veteran striker Thamsanqa Gabuza will not play for TS Galaxy again this season after he was deemed surplus by the club coaching staff.

According to iDiski Times sources, Gabuza has not been part of the training with Galaxy, who face Golden Arrows in the Nedbank Cup at Mpumalanga Stadium on Friday.

While Galaxy has deemed him surplus to requirements, he will still be paid for the last months with The Rockets until June as his contract will expire then.

“Gabuza will not play for Galaxy this season [again]. It was not an immediate separation from the club because they didn’t pay him off. Galaxy will pay the last months of his contract,” said the source.

The former Arrows striker was already under public scrutiny after he had a court case on allegations of attempted rape and malicious property damage, and domestic violence.

Gabuza joined Galaxy at the beginning of this season after leaving SuperSport United at the end of last term. At Galaxy, he made just eight appearance without scoring a goal.

His last took part with Galaxy on 8 November against Moroka Swallows, coming from the bench in the 70th minute to replace Lehlohonolo Mojela.

The former Bafana Bafana striker spent six seasons with Orlando Pirates between 2013/14 and 2018/19 seasons, winning the Nedbank Cup in his debut campaign.

He was the runners-up twice with Pirates in the league – in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, which Mamelodi Sundowns both won. He was also the runner-up for Pirates in the CAF Champions League in 2013 and in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2015.

He left the Buccaneers in 2019 to join SuperSport, spending four seasons with the Tshwane giants until last year. He won the MTN8 in the 2019/20 season, as Kaitano Tembo’s side beat Highlands Park in the final at Orlando Stadium, being named Man of the Match in that game.

Gabuza also won the MTN8 with Golden Arrows in the 2009/10 season where Abafana Bes’Thende annihilated Ajax Cape Town 6-0 at Orlando Stadium, the biggest scoreline in the cup final in the PSL era.

Internationally, he scored four goals in 12 appearances.
