Khanye Discusses Whether Chiefs Or Pirates Should Sign Mbule

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes that troubled Sipho Mbule is a good player to still feature for both Soweto sides Orlando Pirates and Amakhosi.

The comments come as the midfielder has been released by Mamelodi Sundowns who opted not to activate their option to keep him at the club for another year.

The former SuperSport United man was sent on loan to Sekhukhune United this past season where he played 16 matches in all competitions and scored two goals in the league, even catching the eye of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

However, he did not finish the term with Babina Noko as he was sent back to his mother club following misconduct allegations at the Limpopo-based club.

On Sunday, his agent Mike Maakab took to social media, revealing that he has offered the player to Chiefs with the club to make the final decision.

Khanye, who has walked a similar path but since turned his life around, believes ‘Master Chef’ could be a good fit at either Soweto side but at Amakhosi they’d need to bring in players that compliment him.

“Chiefs and Pirates, those two teams I’d love to see Sipho at one of these teams,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“At Pirates he’ll be surrounded by good players the likes of [Relebohile] Mofokeng and [Mohau] Nkota who will compliment him. The likes of Tito Maswanganyi… they need Sipho Mbule, they are the second-best team in the country after Sundowns.

“At Kaizer Chiefs the problem for me is the coaching, the philosophy of the coach, the surrounding of the players. I mean what kind of players are they even going to sign even now.

“I wish they could sign him right now but if they sign Sipho they must sign about seven or eight players to compliment Sipho. I mean top class players who are similar to him obviously they will not be him but the quality must be the same.”
