Official: Pirates Announce 4 Signings

Orlando Pirates have announced the signing of Sephelo Baloni (Cape Town All Stars), Katlego Otladisa (Marumo Gallants), Melusi Buthelezi (TS Galaxy) and Patrick Maswanganyi (SuperSport United).

Several of the deals had already been reported in local media, with the Buccaneers now finally confirming their first arrivals ahead of 2023/24.

“The quartet is already with the team and will form part of the preseason preparations,” the club confirmed.

Buthelezi joins from TS Galaxy and will add more depth to the goalkeeping department after a stellar 2022/23 season that saw him earn a Bafana Bafana call-up.

Otladisa was one of the standout performers during Gallants’ run to the CAF Confederations Cup semi-final, while Baloni stared for All Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and is said to have impressed Jose Riveiro when his side faced the Buccaneers in the Nedbank Cup.

Meanwhile, former Stars of Africa player Maswanganyi made a big impression last season at SuperSport United and was praised by Gavin Hunt. The 25-year-old had spent a few years in Portugal before returning to SA, after being on the books of clubs like União Desportiva Oliveirense, Futebol Clube Cesarense and Associação Académica de Coimbra
