Sekhukhune United have announced Renaldo Leaner as the club’s second official signing ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Babina Noko already confirmed the arrival of Jamie Webber last week, and have now added Leaner, who announced his exit from Maritzburg United on Tuesday.
“With preparations for the new season in full swing, Sekhukhune United Football Club are delighted to announce the latest addition to strengthen their team with the signing of a Goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner from Maritzburg United FC on a 3-year deal,” the club stated.
“Leaner (25) from Cape Town started his football career with Ajax Cape Town Youth Team (Development Team) in 2014 when he was 16 years old, and later got promoted to the senior team in 2019 where he spent two seasons with The Urban Warriors.
“He then joined Maritzburg United in August 2021 where he made 16 appearances with six (6) clean sheets in the 2022/23 DSTV Premiership campaign.
“He represented the country at under 20 level in 2017 COSAFA Cup in Zambia and was also part of the University Sports South Africa Team (USSA) in Taipei and Italy.
“Sekhukhune United Football Club would like to welcome Leaner to the Babina Noko family.”
Leaner himself added: “I am looking forward to the exciting DStv Premiership League season with Babina Noko. I am going to work extremely hard to contribute to the success of the team while maintaining good image of the Club”.
