Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that striker Samir Nurkovic will be sidelined for for the rest of the year after successfully undergoing surgery.
The forward has missed Amakhosi’s last two games after a knee injury from last year had flared up again.
The club subsequently opted to send him to surgery and Chiefs head physiotherapist David Milner has now provided an update on the situation.
“Samir had surgery last week. They found a little tear in the cartilage of the right knee. The surgeon says he could be out between 6 to 8 weeks,” Milner told the club’s website.
“They smoothed out the cartilage. Overall the operation was a success and in a week”s time he will be reassessed by the surgeon.
“We will have a clearer idea as to what is going on and plan the recovery process. We believe the timeline provided is one we can work with for now.”
The Glamour Boys also confirmed that Nurkovic will visit his surgeon on 11 October again to hear further instruction about his post-surgery recovery.
“As it stands he is expected to be back at training in the new year,” the club concluded.
