Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter was full of praise for Amakhosi full-back Njabulo Blom, insisting he’s the best in the country.
Despite Chiefs’ run of four DStv Premiership games without a win, Blom has started all six DStv Premiership games this campaign and now earned some special praise from his coach.
Baxter, who has tried Blom at right-back as well as in central midfielder, has hailed the 21-year-old after Chiefs draw with AmaZulu.
“I think Blom is playing really well at the moment I think. Njabulo is the best full-back in the country at the moment,” he told the club’s media department.
“Ree, whose also got a great engine, galloped on and we could release them, knowing that we’ve got Njabulo (Ngcobo) sitting in that defensive role to cover.
“For long periods it worked very nicely, but you can’t lose the ball and give the opponent big transitions when you’re chasing the game because that leads to counter attacks.
“If they had finished one of those counter attacks, it would have probably been game over, but we needed to take our risks. And I think the boys by large did a decent job.”
Blom, who has come through the club’s youth academy, has made 58 first-team appearances for Amakhosi so far.
