Marumo Gallants assistant coach Mpho Maleka has reacted to his side’s heroic performance against AS Vita in Congo.
Maleka was full of praise for his troops after the game, saying they played according to the game plan in the second half of the match.
Gallants won 2-1 at Peter Mokaba Stadium last week in the first leg of second preliminary round before they drew 1-1 in Congo on Friday to advance to the next round of CAF Confederations Cup as the tie ended 3-2 to Gallants.
“The game against AS Vita we knew that it’s going to be tough, they are very bully, tall, and they are very rough,” Maleka told reporters.
“We stacked to our game plan and first half they played more into our half because we allowed them because we were very slowly in first half.
“We were very slowly in our build up, slowly to attack so half-time we managed to rectify and reminded ourselves of how Marumo can play.
“We did exactly that and that what made us come back to get that late equaliser and second half we were much better.
“We played like the way we wanted, and we dictated we owned field, we owned each and every ball, won duels.
“Yeah look we can only say keep it going guys, the more you achieve, the tougher it goes, and we can only say well done and keep it going.”
The Limpopo club will now visit Stellenbosch FC at Danie Craven Stadium on Wednesday for the DStv Premiership clash.
