Tau Scores Brace On Al Ahly Debut

Percy Tau has started his Al Ahly career on fire, netting a brace against Ismaily in his new club’s opening match of the Egyptian Premier League.

Pitso Mosimane named Tau in his starting XI, handing the Lion of Judah his debut for the ‘Club of the Century’.

However, the first great chance of the game fell to Ismaily’s Shokry Naguib after 11 minutes but his shot was parried by Al Ahly keeper Ali Lofty.

Al Ahly received a penalty in the 19th minute after Luis Miquissone was brought down inside the box. Left-back Ali Maaloul stepped up to hand Al Ahly the lead from the spot.

Just two minutes later, Tau was played in and finished passed the Ismaily goalkeeper with a superb shot.

Tau made it 3-0 after 33 minutes when he met a cross inside the five-years box and put it passed the keeper with his weaker foot.

Al Ahly continued to dominate proceedings and Tau thought he’d completed his hat-trick after 57 minutes but there was an offside in the build-up to the goal.

Tau’s debut ended in the 71st minute when Mosimane opted to bring on Mohamed Sherif in his place.

Al Ahly’s Aliou Dieng was sent off in the 75th minute after receiving his second yellow card for a bad tackle.

However, Al Ahly even made it 4-0 despite playing with 10 men when Ahmed Hamdi AbdelKader scored with a brilliant solo goal.

Ismaily, meanwhile, never really tested Mosimane’s side, who secured a perfect start to the 2021/22 Egyptian Premier League campaign with three points.
