Al Ahly have seemingly made a decision on coach Pitso Mosimane’s future and the club’s leadership are set to meet over a new contract.
The Club of the Century and its coach were not able to agree on a new deal a few weeks back, when they had reached a stalemate in contract talks and said they would resume them by the end of the season.
However, latest reports out of Egypt reveal that the club want to resume talks earlier than expected.
“Al Ahly football company led by Yasin Mansour will be meeting with Mosimane on Tuesday to reach an agreement for a new contract,” Al ahly legend Ahmed Shobeir said, as per Kingfut.
“The club’s board of directors decided that the football company will be responsible for everything regarding the football team.
“Mosimane wants to continue his successful run with Al Ahly, and the club wants the head coach to stay in his position as well.
“Pitso fully trusts his wife who is also his agent to represent him in the meeting, and the most probable outcome is Mosimane’s contract renewal with a 15% or 20% salary increase.”
Al Ahly president Mahmoud El-Khatib has recently stated that Mosimane does indeed “deserve an increase after his achievements with the club”.
The South African has lifted four trophies since joining the club, namely back-to-back CAF Champions League titles, the CAF Super Super and the the Egyptian Cup, while also collecting a bronze medal at the FIFA Club World Cup.
