Ncikazi Praises Peprah, Gives Zungu Update

Orlando Pirates co-caretaker Mandla Ncikazi was full of praise for the Ghanaian striker Kwame Peprah after their 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants at Orlando Stadium.

After a long wait for Peprah to score, he finally registered his name on the scoresheet, as he netted a brace against Gallants.

Ncikazi, who had trust in him, has now praised the young striker, and also explained why Nkanyiso Zungu is not playing at the moment.

Zungu has only featured once this season, and is still searching for his space, according to coach Ncikazi.

“Peprah has always had signs unlucky in some moments and efforts,” Ncikazi said after the match.

“As a technical team, we had a responsibility to support him. And it’s important that we must see the game as coaches, not like everybody else.

“Him not scoring but still contributing into the team set-up, In the build attack, he still gives the assist if it’s possible, that’s a contribution which is how we saw in the match, I’m also happy that he has started scoring.

“Zungu is training, he is training, but the competition is stiff at the centre. Remember that this team is blessed with Ben (Motshwari) at the centre, there’s (Abel) Mabaso at the centre, there’s (Goodman) Mosele, there’s (Nkanyiso) Zungu, there’s (Siphesihle) Ndlovu who still wants an opportunity, he’s training very well.

“So one based on the competition. For now, we have made the choices that we’ve made, but Zungu should get his opportunity very soon.”

The 52-year-old has previewed their next game against AmaZulu, saying they are prepared and will not focus on their opponents, but stick to their game plan to get the three points.

“Tough match, but that’s the nature of the PSL, AmaZulu are a difficult side, AmaZulu are a very energetic side. Benni has done a wonderful job with the team,” he said as they prepare for Usuthu game.

“They’ve got a very good players in the team. You can see how AmaZulu have transformed themselves from the team, the ordinary team into high performers that they are now.

“But we do have to get a plan, refresh the players, be prepared. And like I said earlier on, Pirates must try to get to the points, irrespective of the opponent that is in front of them.

“If we play to our strengths, play to our ability and our players are injury free. I’m confident that we can get a result, although AmaZulu are a very good and difficult side.”
