Mamelodi Sundowns star Thabiso Kutumela opens up on the famous snake celebration and what it really means.
Kutumela joined Sundowns in the off-season from Maritzburg United and has impressed with six goal contributions in nine starts despite a couple of niggling injuries.
His infectious aura and celebrations on the field of play have been notable within the Masandawana squad that nearly romped to an unbeaten first half of the DStv Premiership campaign.
And he’s now finally revealed what the ‘Cobra’ celebration means to him.
“This celebration was created at my previous team, Maritzburg United,” he told the Mamelodi Sundowns magazine.
“The motivation behind this celebration stems from the fact that if you attempted to poke a snake in its hole, be rest assured that you will be bitten.
“This meant that visiting teams are fully aware that we were ready to strike whenever they come to our domain.”
Kutumela scored 28 goals and registered five assists in 74 games for the Team of Choice before making the move to Tshwane last year.
